Don Van Meer

Since 1996, Don Van Meer has been the President and CEO of Carswell, a Thomson Reuters business, supplying integrated information solutions to meet the needs of legal, tax and human resource professionals. During this time he led his company through a time of transition and unprecedented growth in technology that completely changed the way business was done.

How can a leader keep a team engaged in the face of change?  Don was not only successful in casting a new vision and expanding the scope of the business, he was able to harness the hearts and minds of his employees to earn recognition as one of the “Best Workplaces in Canada”.

Don is a graduate of Ryerson University with a degree in Business Management and received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1981. He worked in public Accounting for five years and held a number of senior positions in finance and administration serving as Senior Vice President of Finance and Human Resources at Carswell prior to his appointment as CEO.

Don and his wife JoyAnn of 33 years have raised 3 boys. Aside from spending time with family, they enjoy cottage life, skiing and driving back roads in a vintage truck.

  1. I attended the recent event on Mar 5th 2013 and listened to Don Van Meer speak. I have to say it was one of the most informative and motivational presentations I have ever had the good fortune to attend. Don’s message should be the standard people in my profession follow.
